rivets(59): a short metal pin or bolt for holding together two plates of metal.
lapis(56): a bright blue metamorphic rock consisting largley of lazurite, used for decoration and in jewlery.

"like wet stones". I know this is a simile because it uses the word LIKE.
"straight as a die" .This is also a simile because it uses the word AS.
"dead quiet" . This is a Metaphor because the word dead is applied to quiet when noise cant actually dead just very quiet.

"It takes very little to govern good people. very little. and bad people can't be governed at all. or if the could i never heard of it."(64). I think this is significant because the bad people in this book are going to do what they want and arent going to stop until the get what their after. So you should probaly stay out of their way or else you"ll be having some trouble later in life, like i think the main character in my book will have.

One theme i see arrising is that there is a new era coming in, new ways of doing things and the old ways of dealing with things will not be a good enough way of dealing with this new era.
